What About West Virginia?

In a move so purely political it has James Carville and Karl Rove foaming at the mouth, John Edwards endorsed the presumptive Demorcratic nominee Barack Obama.

This came the day after Hillary slaughtered Obama at the West Virginia primary and two days after Edwards again stated that he would not be endorsing anyone.

But if there were any time for Hillary to drop out of the race it would be now. I actually harbored delusions for a moment that she might drop out after West Virginia because that at least would be classy and what a way to go.

But no, apparently if nuclear war comes the only thing left will be cockroaches and Hillary Clinton. And I have to say I admire her tenacity and her strength. But really, continuing to campaign after West Virginia is only hurting the Democratic Party.

John Edwards obviously saw this and did something about it. And as Slate’s John Dickerson said, “For Clinton to move ahead in those numbers now, she must bring more states into the union.” And this was after her Indiana victory.

Hillary, please read the writing on the wall and unite the party the way only you can. It’s going to be hard enough as it is seeing as how 30% of Democrats want you to run as an Independent. Please don’t Libermann us.
